From plantation landscape to Glenmore.
Historical research from UIN KHAS Jember places Glenmore’s modern development within the expansion of private plantation enterprise following the Agrarian Law of 1870.
The study identifies Ros Taylor, a Scottish entrepreneur, as the founder of Glenmore Estate, with estate operations beginning on 2 February 1910. Coffee, rubber and cocoa were among its export crops.
During 1920–1928 the estate expanded infrastructure, worker facilities, irrigation, storage and transport links. Railway connections supported the movement of plantation produce toward ports and European markets.
